Semi-central ventilation system for classrooms

he semi-central balanced ventilation system provides ventilation for part of the classrooms within an educational building (e.g., one floor), allowing individual airflow control and energy-efficient operation through heat recovery.

Main features:

  • central AHU for part of the classrooms
  • balanced ventilation of classrooms
  • heat recovery in classrooms
  • suitable for major renovations

Basic system components:

  • central AHU with heat recovery
  • VAV dampers

In this semi-central balanced ventilation system for classrooms, fresh air is supplied to a central air handling unit, where heat is transferred from the exhaust air removed from the classrooms through heat recovery. The treated air is then distributed to individual classrooms. Each classroom is equipped with a VAV damper that controls the amount of supply and extract air according to the current ventilation demand. The system ensures consistently stable indoor environmental quality and a high level of user comfort in classrooms and, thanks to partial heat recovery, helps reduce the building’s operating costs.
